Evolve. Write. Teaching Beyond Tradition.

Inspiration Beyond the Ordinary.

Writing Beyond Words.

Commit yourself to your life.

The IWI.
Teaching Beyond Tradition. Traditional teaching addresses writing as a craft. But if writing, per se, could be taught, it wouldn't be so seemingly impossible to create a great story or essay.  IWI approaches writing from a more holistic, integrated angle.  We abhor the "over-workshopped, tidy story."  We savor the quirks.
Inspiration Beyond the Ordinary. Inspiration does not come from obsessing about some end product.  It comes from loving every step of the process.  IWI knows inspiration is intrinsic to the writer, to the process of writing.  It's here we begin, and here where we focus throughout.  The rest is gravy.
Writing Beyond Words. When writing is full, rich and original, it transcends the words on the page and takes on a life of its own. This is IWI writing: beyond words on the page.
Commit Yourself to Your Life. You only go around once.  If you have a story to tell, tell it. Imagine it, write, it, revise it: grab  on to it like a pit bull and don't let it go, no matter how challenging the process becomes.  IWI is as pit-bullish as any other lean and hungry writing hound.  Writing itself is a lone-wolf pursuit, to be sure; but on the other side of the solitary act of getting words on a page, we all need a pack.

Writing is Listening
As writers, we all think we have something to say. It's often what makes us pick up a pen. But good writing doesn't usually come from what you have to say; it comes from listening.
I Don't Paint What I See
Often times, aspiring writers say, “But that’s what really happened.” This in defense to some criticism of their work. But the way things really happen does not make them art. Writers are in the business of making art.
Writing In The World
These days, the first person point of view is very en vogue. Don't get me wrong: I like reading and writing stories in first person. But I think maybe we’ve tipped the "me" scale a little too far.
So You Think You Can Dance? And Writing?
We know the difference between someone who can write a good sentence (someone who can “move well”), and a writer (a dancer). The muscular prose, the graceful turns. We know them.
